Medium guide
Physical mediumship
Physical mediumship is where spirits use physical energy and the physical environment to communicate. They may, for example, move or bring objects to the medium or others in the room (known as apport) or levitate people or objects. Sometimes spirits communicate using the body of the medium, which is known as trance. When a medium is in a state of trance, they allow the spirit to take over and communicate directly to the individual through their body. The medium remains in control the whole time, whilst ensuring that their own thoughts, feelings and actions don’t personally interfere with the messages from the spirit. As a result they may often appear to be asleep.
Another channel associated with physical mediumship is aura, or the energy that a person emits. The medium is able to see and interpret a person’s energy, which manifests as a colourful glow around their body.
